Hello friends, and welcome back to another episode of festivalPass Stories podcast, sponsored by Dos Hombres Mezcal. We have another special guest this week, restaurateur, actor, and stuntman, Victor Chan.

Victor must be having more fun than the rest of us. Making a living as a stuntman and a restaurant owner must be as thrilling as it sounds. We love food, and we love to interview people in the restaurant business. Having said that, Victor Chan is probably the only one to take a few hits from Hollywood actors like Michael Madsen and Johnny Depp. Victor’s got some juicy stories from his days as a stuntman, particularly one that gets Sopranos super-fan Pat Tully excited. Victor has been in dozens of films in his career and has always upheld the craft of acting despite his start being coincidence; which we know is always a theme on this podcast.

Poet John Milton’s quote must be right, “luck is the residue of design.” Fate would lead Victor down another path where he would become what our host Pat has dubbed, “a restaurant-repreneur”. A Bite To Eat was Victor’s first cafe, and it would become a huge success in the Seaport community. After three years, Victor needed to look for another space and put in a proposal for a sushi restaurant. Now, Victor owns two sushi restaurants in New York, Sushi-teria and SUteiShi. Follow the links to both places after the episode!

What amazing accomplishments to be a profitable restaurant owner, and a Screen Actors Guild Award Nominee! If you're in New York, you have to try the exquisite sushi at Victor’s place, and if you can’t make it, then check him out in one of the movies he’s been in, you won't want to miss those killer stunts!

“Honestly, you just take the jobs that come to you. Whatever it is; it just so happens that the director likes my look in a cop uniform…I don’t mind. It’s work for me and I quite enjoy it.” - Victor Chan
