Costumes, music and spectacular performances can be seen and heard throughout The Big Easy as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival fills downtown from the end of April until the beginning of May. NOLA's Jazz Fest plays host to artists across a wide variety of musical genres and, since its inception, has grown to include two weekends of performances from big-name stars as well as emerging local acts. The festival’s multiple stages have hosted legends like Mahalia Jackson, Etta James and Duke Ellington. In addition to the world-class music, the festival features a variety of arts and crafts booths and a smorgasbord of food including Louisiana specialties like po-boys, boudin, crawfish and beignets.
